The second most common question after "will it fit" is "will my thermostat still work." Usually yes, if the control box in the ceiling matches. This chart is built from the 2025 Coleman-Mach aftermarket catalog.
First, the rule that trips people up
Coleman's 9 Series controls are not backward compatible with 8 Series. When you replace a ceiling assembly or a control box, check that the thermostat on the wall is one the new box supports, or replace the thermostat too.
Non-ducted, controls on the ceiling
No wall thermostat. The ceiling assembly is the control.

Wall thermostat systems
A wall-thermostat system has a control box in the ceiling, and the box decides which thermostats work. Where the box lives depends on the assembly:
- Ducted ChillGrilles (8430A633, 8430A635, 8630A635) have the box built in. The system is the ChillGrille plus a wall thermostat.
- Plenum-only assemblies (9430-4552 white, 9430-4572 black, non-ducted) ship without a box. The system is plenum + control package + wall thermostat.

Every wall-thermostat system needs 12 V DC to the thermostat circuit from the RV. The control box does not supply it.
Zone systems are factory-wired
A digital zone system runs up to four air conditioners or heat pumps and two heat sources from one 9330 thermostat. It needs a zone box in every unit, a remote room sensor in every zone after the first, a coach harness and one-time programming. That makes zone parts replacements for a system the RV was built with, not an upgrade you add. We sell the zone thermostat and boxes as replacement parts.
The WiFi thermostat question
The 9420-391 WiFi thermostat is the one most people ask about. Coleman rates it for the analog control boxes: 8330-752, 9330C755 and 9530A751, and the same boxes built into the ChillGrilles. If your system has one of those, the WiFi stat is a 20-minute swap on the same wires and needs a 2.4 GHz network. If your ceiling has a digital zone box, the WiFi stat does not apply; you stay on the 9330 zone thermostat.
Replacing a Dometic or Furrion thermostat
Dometic single-zone LCD and Furrion wall thermostats do not control a Coleman ceiling assembly. When you switch brands on the roof, the Coleman ceiling assembly and thermostat come in the kit. Our ducted kits include a ChillGrille with its box and a new wall stat; the old stat comes off the wall and the new one usually goes on the same wires.
