Fit Guarantee

Rooftop RV air conditioners are sold as a box with a footnote. The unit ships, the ceiling assembly is "sold separately," the thermostat does not match, and you find out on the roof. Kate RV kits exist so that does not happen.

What the guarantee covers

If you order a Kate RV complete kit and any of the following turns out to be wrong for your RV, you can return the kit within 30 days with no restocking fee and we pay return shipping:

  • Roof opening. The kit is sold for a 14 x 14 in roof opening and your opening is 14 x 14 in, but the unit does not mount.
  • Airflow. The kit is sold as ducted or non-ducted and your RV is the type stated on the kit page, but the ceiling assembly does not work with your ceiling.
  • Control. The kit page says it works with your existing wall thermostat or control box by part number, and it does not.
  • Heat. The kit is sold as heat-ready or heat pump and the ceiling assembly in the box is not the matching type.

What it does not cover

  • Single components bought outside a kit (units, ceiling assemblies, thermostats, parts). Those follow the standard return policy.
  • Roof openings that are not 14 x 14 in. Measure the opening, not the old shroud. Almost every Coleman-Mach, Dometic, Furrion, Advent and Atwood rooftop unit uses the 14 x 14 in opening, but some older and some European units do not.
  • Units that have been installed and run. Fit is something you can confirm before the unit goes on the roof: opening size, ceiling type, control wiring.
  • Changing your mind about BTU, color or profile height after delivery.

How to check fit before you buy

  1. Measure the roof opening from inside, with the old ceiling assembly off. 14 x 14 in is standard.
  2. Look at your ceiling. One grille with a knob or buttons on it, air blowing straight down: non-ducted. Several small vents along the ceiling and a separate wall thermostat: ducted. The ducted vs non-ducted guide has photos of both.
  3. Note the control you have. Knob on the ceiling, a wall thermostat (read the part number inside the cover), or an app. The thermostat compatibility guide maps each one to the kit that keeps it or replaces it.
  4. Read the Fits block on the kit page. It lists opening, airflow, replaces, and what the kit does not include.

How a fit return works

Email support@katerv.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number, a photo of the roof opening with a tape measure, and a photo of your ceiling. We send a prepaid label, you repack the kit in its cartons, and the refund posts in full when it arrives. If a different kit is the right one, we ship it once the return is scanned.
