Rooftop RV air conditioners from Dometic, Furrion, Advent, Atwood and Coleman-Mach all mount on the same 14 x 14 in roof opening with four bolts. Swapping brands is a like-for-like replacement on the roof. What changes is under the ceiling.
What stays the same
- Roof opening: 14 x 14 in, no cutting.
- Mounting: four bolts through the ceiling assembly into the unit, gasket between unit and roof.
- Power: 115 V line from the breaker panel to the roof. The Coleman unit uses the same supply.
What changes
| Old unit | Old ceiling and control | Coleman replacement | What to order |

| Dometic Penguin II (low profile, 640315, 651815) | Dometic non-ducted or ducted kit, LCD wall stat | Mach 10 (low) or Mach 8 Plus (ultra-low) to keep the height | Low profile kit |
| Dometic FreshJet | Dometic ADB or ducted kit | Mach 3 Plus or Mach 15 Plus | Same as Brisk II |
| Furrion Chill (14.5K and 15.5K, FACR14, FACR15) | Furrion ADB or ducted kit, Furrion wall thermostat | Mach 15 Plus (15K) | Replaces Furrion Chill kits |
| Advent / Atwood (ACM135, ACM150, AC1351) | Advent non-ducted ceiling kit with knob | Mach 3 Plus or Mach 15 Plus | Replaces Advent kits |
The ceiling assembly does not cross over
A Dometic ADB or Furrion ceiling kit does not mount to a Coleman unit. The bolt pattern, the air return and the control plug are different. Every Kate RV kit that replaces a Dometic or Furrion includes the Coleman ceiling assembly for that reason. The old assembly comes down, the new one goes up on the same opening.
The thermostat does not cross over either
Dometic's single-zone LCD thermostat and Furrion's wall thermostat run on their own control boards. On a ducted switch, the Coleman kit includes a ChillGrille with its control box built in and a new wall thermostat; the old stat comes off the wall and the Coleman stat goes on, usually on the same wire run. On a non-ducted switch, the controls move to the ceiling grille or to the RV Comfort app, and the old wall stat is simply removed. The thermostat guide has the pairings.
Wiring
115 V: the supply wire that fed the old unit connects to the Coleman ceiling assembly's junction box. 12 V: ducted systems need a 12 V feed for the thermostat, which the Dometic or Furrion system already had in the wall. Non-ducted Coleman assemblies with grille controls need no 12 V.
Height check
Dometic Brisk II sits about 12.7 in tall, Penguin II about 9.5 in, Furrion Chill about 14 in. Mach 3/15 are 13.8 in, Mach 10 is 11.8 in, Mach 8 Plus is 8.25 in. If the old unit cleared your garage by an inch, match or go lower.
