A rooftop AC is an 80 to 105 lb box, 40 x 30 x 17 in. Shipping it well is most of the job of selling it. Here is exactly how it works.
Cost
Free ground shipping on orders over $200 to the lower 48 states. Every unit and every kit qualifies. Orders under $200 (a thermostat, a capacitor, a gasket) ship for a flat rate shown at checkout. No shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, PO boxes or outside the US.
For comparison, most RV AC retailers charge a flat $150 freight fee on a rooftop unit, on top of the unit price.
How it ships
Units ship ground (FedEx or UPS) from the distributor's warehouse in the factory carton, which is designed for parcel handling. Kits ship as separate cartons from the same warehouse, usually on the same day: the unit in its box, the ceiling assembly in its box, the gasket and hardware in a small box. You will get one tracking number per carton.
In-stock orders placed by 12 PM Eastern on a weekday ship the same day. Orders after 12 PM, on weekends or on holidays ship the next business day. Transit is 2 to 5 business days to most of the lower 48.
Delivery to a campground
Ship to the campground office or a UPS Access Point near you rather than a site number. Put the campground name on address line 1 and your name and site on line 2, and tell the office a 100 lb box is coming. Drivers will leave it at the office; they will not carry it to your site.
Inspect on delivery
Before the driver leaves if you can, and the same day if you cannot:
- Look at the carton on every side. Crushed corners, punctures, a torn shroud outline, or a box that has clearly been dropped on end.
- Open it and look at the shroud, the base pan and the compressor mounts.
- Photograph anything you see, carton and unit, before you move it further.
If it arrives damaged
Email support@katerv.com within 24 hours of delivery with your order number and photos of the carton and the damage. We file the carrier claim and ship a replacement as soon as the claim is accepted, which is usually a few days. Keep the carton and the unit until we tell you the claim is closed; the carrier may inspect it. Reports after 24 hours, or without photos, have to go to the carrier directly and we cannot promise the outcome.
If it arrives dead
No visible damage but the unit does not run: email us within 7 days of delivery with the order number, the model and serial from the rating plate, and what it does when powered. We coordinate the replacement with Coleman-Mach (Airxcel) so you are not making the warranty call yourself. After 7 days it becomes a standard Coleman-Mach 2-year warranty case through an authorized service center.
Returns
